HAPPY INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY!

KITRI is a brand built by women, for women. Every day we have the pleasure of working with incredibly talented, go-getting women, so supporting and celebrating each other is an integral part of our culture. We're big believers in paying it forward and wanted to honour International Women's Day by doing just that! Which is why we've asked five women that we admire to tell us about a woman who inspires them.

We also want to hear about women that inspire you, so please do head over to our Instagram to nominate a woman YOU admire!

Otegha Uwagba
Otegha is the founder of Women Who, a women-based community for creative working women that are rewriting the traditional career paths and bringing original ideas to life. Besides running Women Who, Otegha is also a writer, brand consultant and all round girl boss.

"My inspirational woman is the writer Roxane Gay. I love how forthright she is about everything from body image to politics, and her writing has taught me so much about feminism, race, gender, and writing itself. She's also funny as hell, and wears her intelligence lightly, which I really admire."

Sophie Epstone

Sophie is the founder and CEO of
Trekstock, a charity that works hard to ensure that no young adult has to face cancer alone. Their vision is to get young adults in their 20s and 30s moving again physically, socially and psychologically after cancer.

"Jo Malone's Desert Island Discs stopped me in my tracks a few years ago - she has been an inspiration for a long time. From growing a successful business through sheer hard work and determination to overcoming cancer in her late 30s. Jo has not only inspired me but undoubtedly will inspire many of the young adults we support."

Suzanne Jacob OBE

Suzanne is Chief Executive of SafeLives, a UK charity dedicated to ending domestic abuse, for good.

"I want to nominate my mum, every single day I follow advice she’s given me over the years. As a kid I watched her teach herself to swim despite having a fear of water and set up a local playgroup because the council wouldn't. Though she was always the primary carer, she never stopped pushing to achieve other goals. She showed rather than told me how women could break out of expectations and do anything they want, and that a vital part of this must be supporting other women to do the same."

Hannah Bellamy

Hannah is the Managing Director of charity: water, which is a non-profit that uses every single penny the public donates to them to bring clean, safe drinking water to people in the developing world. As the Managing Director, Hannah oversees operations, helps increase awareness, and builds a supporter base throughout Europe.

"I take daily inspiration from Mulitani Yesaya, a 42-year-old mother of 6 from rural Malawi. Her name means 'what will you do with it?' and this is the question she asks herself every day. When she didn't have clean water, she made 7 long round-trips a day to collect dirty water from a river outside her village; when there was a drilling rig that couldn't get to her village to drill a well, she and the other villagers banded together to build a road so that it could get there; and once they had made clean water happen, she said she'd care for it like a 'new baby'. I strive to be as truly grateful as she is."

Amani Rakeia

Amani is a young digital storyteller and Editor and Chief of Sad Girls Club, an online platform that shares uplifting content on love, sex, wellness and spirituality, all through the narrative of women of colour. If you're in need of some motivational words, head over to her Instagram page for some inspiration!

"A woman who inspires me is Brittany Antoinette. There is so much of myself that I see in Brittany. I consider her the big sister I never had online and in real life. Her entrepreneurial spirit and constant advocacy for ways to be well and take care of your mind, body and spirit is what I truly admire. Through all of the glitz and glamour and her stunning Instagram feed, Brittany is never afraid to show the not so cute moments behind the scenes of running your own business and the raw highlights of what true self-care embodies."

"Brittany is the homegirl we all need in our circle. The one to tell you when to do your hair even when you're sad and the one to root for you and your silly antics. The Idea Girl is also my go-to girl for all my freelance tips and stepping into the world of content creation and design. Shout out to Brittany for curating the Idea Girl Gang, where she offers her services and courses for women looking to take their business and aesthetics into their own hands. Everything she touches, is gold."
