KITRI Spotlight: Kai Kaimins

Who doesn’t love flowers?!

My Lady Garden are the best pick of the bunch and a bloomin’ lovely team to boot! Influenced by founder Kai living and working in New York, Paris, Melbourne and London, My Lady Garden is a true celebration of playful and modern floral design.

We caught up with Kai to find out more about the My Lady Garden journey so far...

We're big fans of My Lady Garden at KITRI! How did you go about starting the brand?
My Lady Garden started as an instagram bio when I was freelancing both in London and New York. I started doing small, wedding focused work on my own and that was my main stream of business. Wild!
Covid turned us into a floral delivery service due to pretty much every wedding being cancelled, then we became a walk in shop... it's really turned into an ever changing experiment! We have out grown our studio twice, from when it was my spare bedroom with one tiny workbench, to our beloved Dalston site, to our most recent move to Islington - into a two storey studio space (and future shop!).
I've learnt to lean into the flow of the business, and embrace the adaptability of our brand. As with all good things, they develop over time, and i'm really loving establishing ourselves as a brand. We're not JUST a florist - we're now so much more!

What has been your biggest challenge and greatest success so far?
Biggest challenge is keeping up with our rapid growth! I keep thinking, oh it'll calm down for a while, but we just keep crushing goal after goal and expanding. I'm so proud of our team! Greatest success was hiring three members of staff this year and absolutely delivering amazing weddings across the country.

How are you preparing for the holidays - will you be out-out this year, or keeping it cosy at home?
Christmas is one of our busiest months of the year - between hosting wreath making workshops, private installations and brand events... I'm also an absolute social butterfly and will definitely be going out at any chance I have! I'm heading to the countryside for Christmas, so looking forward to some down time then post glittery, floral madness!

What are your favourite styles from KITRI Winter Collection, and where will you be wearing them over the festive season?
I adore the fun Carlotta Malachite Print Mini Dress - I love the sleeves and the cut of the dress! I also will be wearing the Harlow Retro Star Print Mini Dress to many a christmas party, love the silhouette it gives! I'll also be keeping cosy with the Makenzie Fairisle V-Neck Vest which I love layering with my shirts, and the Skye Boxy Red Ribbed Jumper

What’s up next for My Lady Garden?
So many exciting things in the pipeline! We have just moved studios, and by Valentines Day will have a take-away coffee moment in the front. I love our new space, think tonal pink, marshmallow wonderland. It's 10 times the size of our last studio! I'm also writing a book, which won't come out until 2023 but I can't wait to share more details!
