KITRI Spotlight: Charlotte Williams

#KITRIspotlight

Meet our creative, intelligent and simply brilliant friends who inspire KITRI in every single way.

Meet the wonderful Charlotte Williams, one of the faces of our Autumn collection, #KITRIgirl and founder of SevenSix Agency, a social media and influencer marketing agency with a focus on diversity and inclusion. We spoke to Charlotte about her inspirations, how to stay motivated and her career journey so far. Trust us, you're going to want to meet her!

What inspired you to start SevenSix Agency?

SevenSix Agency was born out of frustration about the lack of diversity within the influencer space. I’ve worked as both an influencer and an influencer marketer for the better part of a decade and was tired of not seeing people who looked like me, my friends and family at the forefront of campaigns!

What is the ethos behind the agency?

Equality and equity are at the core of SevenSix Agency. I named the company after the 1976 Race Relations Act which forms part of the 2010 Equality Act - the law that makes discrimination in this country illegal. As much as I believe in equality, I’m aware that for many marginalised groups we can’t get there without a leg up, that’s where equity comes in!

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced since launching the agency?

When I first launched the agency, marketing teams weren’t actively looking for diversity consultancy or that interested in working with black and brown content creators so I had to work twice as hard to get myself out there. Now things are a little easier as people are aware of the need for inclusive marketing strategies but I am worried it may be a trend that will disappear in a few months. I want to make sure this is not the case.

How have things changed since the pandemic this year?

We’ve seen incredible growth in the last 7 months due to most companies putting their budgets into digital alongside the Black Lives Matter resurgence. The team has also grown from 2 to 4 (and soon to be 5) which is exciting!

Can you pinpoint a moment you have been most proud of?

I sat on an advertising industry panel last week with some very important people and thought wow, you’ve come a long way Charlotte!

That's inspiring! Who most inspires you?

I’m inspired by so many women! Business owners, mums, intrepreneurs. I’m lucky to be surrounded by incredibly talented and knowledgable people who can keep me motivated.

What motivates you?

My friends and the fact that there is so much work to be done in my industry and we’ve only just begun!

You must be incredibly busy! How do you switch off and relax?

I won’t lie to you, I find it really difficult to switch off as I love my job and live for my work. When I do switch off I like to go on long walks in Hampstead Heath with my dog and boyfriend. Also having friends round for drinks and watching 90s movies whilst chatting about life.

What does a typical day look like for you?

Every day is different! I have a lot of time on my laptop replying to emails and sitting on Zoom for meetings. Because I’m also an influencer I have to film content and take photos for brands which adds a bit of excitement to the day. The only constant part of my routine is morning and night I have to walk the dog!

How would you describe your style?

My style is very much focused around comfort and colour. I love pretty dresses and wide leg trousers and anything that had a pop of colour in.

We loved working with you to photograph our autumn collection! What are your favourite pieces?

I absolutely loved that shoot and working again with one of my favourite photographers, Krystal Neuvill. My favourite pieces are the Lori and the Ara!

Finally, what’s next for SevenSix Agency?

We are now heavily focused on the growth of the business. We currently have a Crowdfunder live that will give us the bandwidth to take on larger projects that will have a greater impact. Everything we do is about community so we want to ensure we give our network the tools they need to be the best they can be.
