#KITRIrecommends

December can be a tricky time to navigate. With so many Christmas parties to attend, presents to buy and dinners to go to, we think it’s important to ensure you have time to relax and enjoy yourself. We’ve rounded up some of our favourite things to do, see, read and most importantly eat (‘tis the season after all) throughout this merry month!

Bridget Riley, The Hayward Gallery

If you love pattern as much as we do, then we guarantee you are going to love this exhibition. Bridget Riley’s newest and largest retrospective of work at the Hayward Gallery in London’s Southbank Centre is full of energy and colour and is guaranteed to cheer up a grey winter’s day. From pieces that Riley created whilst she was at school in the 1940’s, right up until the present; the exhibition includes expansive walls of colour, optical illusions and figurative works, you’ll find yourself ‘circle’ struck.

Arcade Food Theatre, Tottenham Court Road

Food markets just got a whole lot fancier with Tottenham Court Road’s Arcade Food Theatre. This space is tailored for all taste buds, so you don’t need to have that dreaded conversation of deciding what everyone ‘fancies’. From Lina Stores' delicious fresh pasta to creative sandwiches by Tao, this kitsch food hall quite literally caters for all your friend’s food and drink needs. We will be ticking each of these restaurants off our list!

The Unexpected Joy of the Ordinary, Catherine Gray Looking for a Boxing Day read? Catherine Gray’s newest book encourages readers to take ‘joy in the ordinary pleasures of everyday’ rather than always looking for the height of unachievable happiness. A laugh-out-loud, interesting and soulful read, it’s the perfect book to see you into the new year. We can't wait to pick up our copy on Boxing day!
