Collecting Vintage Furniture: 4 Top Tips from Vinterior

Collecting Vintage Furniture: 4 Top Tips from Vinterior

At KITRI, you know we're all about making things a little more sustainable. That's why this Second Hand September, we collaborated with pre-owned furniture marketplace Vinterior on our latest pop up store at Liberty London.

Vinterior is an online marketplace that gives pre-loved furniture the platform it deserves, sourcing good quality, good-looking, good-for-the-planet pieces. The inclusion of their mid-century furniture transformed our space and filled it with character - as well as giving the pieces a new lease of life.

We caught up with Vinterior's Co-founder & CEO Sandrine to find out her top tips when it comes to vintage furniture sourcing and collecting...

1. Follow your instincts, if you love something, buy it.

"There’s nothing worse than falling for something and finding out someone else got there first. With vintage if you delay you may miss your chance to own the only one"

2. Don’t be afraid to mix and match different styles.

"Combining different designers, eras and materials adds character to a space and makes it your own."

3. Look for quality.

"Named designers can be great for initial purchases if you don’t feel as familiar with the product and want to ensure the piece will be reliable. As an example, Robin Day is a great place to start for British mid-century modern design."

4. Investing and collecting items over time.

"means you can find those special pieces that show off your character and will age well."
