Style Spotlight: Sophia Rosemary

#StyleSpotlight

Meet Sophia Rosemary, KITRI girl and founder of the Manchester-based style and lifestyle blog sophiarosemary.com. She's loved for her relaxed, '60s inspired style and we love to see how she styles her favourite KITRI pieces. For our third #StyleSpotlight feature, we asked Sophia quick fire questions about her style and how she got into blogging.

Hi Sophia, what are you up to right now?
I’m currently in the very last stages of buying my first house with my boyfriend which is a lot more stressful and time-consuming than I first anticipated but equally exciting! I’ve just been reading through a pile of forms and now my head hurts!

Why did you start your blog SophiaRosemary.com?
I started my blog as an extension of my Instagram account. I was really dissatisfied in my job at the time and my Instagram seemed to be growing momentum. I decided off the back of my social media to create a blog as a hobby which would fill the creative void in my life at the time. It felt like the most natural path to take and it really helped grow my confidence!

Where are you based?
I was born and still live in Manchester

We’re a London-based brand but we love coming to Manchester to visit our concession in Selfridges. Next time we’re there, where should we go?
You should definitely head to the Northern Quarter and visit some of it’s amazing cafés. My personal favourite is Ezra and Gill - they have the best window seats for people watching.

Describe your style in three words…
Simple, comfortable and a little nostalgic at times.

What’s your favourite item of clothing in your wardrobe?
I have too many! I think I have favourite styles of clothing rather than favourite specific items if that makes sense? My go to favourites are: floral tea dresses/midi skirts, overalls and graphic tees.

Who should we be following on Instagram?
You should follow @bettymagazine for an aesthetically pleasing feed and she has the prettiest wardrobe.

Whose style do you most admire?
I’m heavily influenced by the sixties and so a lot of biggest influences come from this era. I absolutely love Jane Birkin, Marianne Faithfull and Francoise Hardy, but I guess my biggest style icon is without a doubt George Harrison! He is definitely solely responsible for my relaxed, boyish style.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?

You can’t win them all. I think we try too hard to impress everyone and it’s impossible! You’re not going to be everyone’s piece of cake but that’s not the end of the world. The harder you try to appease everyone the easier it is to lose sight of who you really are. Staying true/strong to yourself is definitely a really valuable quality to have in life and when blogging!

What’s your party trick?
Oh my gosh I don't have one!! That’s a little sad isn't it?

We love to see you wear KITRI! Which five pieces are your favourite?
This summer I’ve been completely obsessed with your dresses and graphic tees! They’ve been my staple, go-to pieces through the last few months. I love teaming  graphic tees with either a floral midi skirt or a wide leg trouser. The nice thing about this look is you can wear it throughout the day for a super comfy effortless look or with a slightly more snazzy shoe in the evening for a more sophisticated outfit.

Green has definitely been my colour of the year and I think you've nailed it perfectly! I love wearing your Siena Floral Tea Dress with a plimsole pump. I’ve got my fingers and toes crossed green stays with us through winter because I really can't get enough of the shade.

I also love the whimsical feel of your Kira Print Midi Skirt, it’s an essential for your holiday wardrobe but I think teamed with the right fine knit and boot this style could quite easily carry through into Autumn too! I love timeless pieces like midi skirts which you know wont just last you season to season but year to year! Plus it looks so pretty when faced with a little bit of wind (which is regular when you live in Manchester)
