Style Spotlight: Charlotte Groeneveld

#StyleSpotlight
Meet Charlotte Groeneveld, KITRI girl and founder of The Fashion Guitar, a hugely successful personal style blog, that Charlotte launched after spotting a gap in the market for a blog with 'real-factor'. Originally from the Netherlands but now based in New York, Charlotte has become a fashion week street style star thanks to her unique, eclectic style.
For our second #StyleSpotlight feature, Charlotte answers out quick fire questions about her style and what inspires her.

Hi Charlotte, what are you up to right now?
It’s New York fashion week, so that means I’m running around from show to show, and presentations. I see many of my industry friends, and have lots of fun. It’s extremely hectic, and exhausting to say the least, but I’m still loving every second of it!

Why did you start your blog The Fashion Guitar? Because I wanted a place to share my ideas on fashion, on trends, and to inspire other people around me, who could appreciate these things as much as I could.

Where are you based? We are based in New York.

How do you start your day? I wake up with the kids, around 7AM. My husband prepares breakfast while I dress them for school. We try to eat together, but it’s more of a run around kind of breakfast situation. Happy but hectic I like to call it! As soon as they leave for school, I eat “the rest of my breakfast” and take a shower. Depending on my schedule, I either dress up for meetings, or shoots, or I keep it casual for a day in the office.

What’s your favourite item of clothing that’s in your wardrobe? Since it is winter, I’m all over big winter coats. The bigger, the better. I love to layer them with dresses. Asymmetrical ones, printed, anything inspired by the Fall/Winter runway collections. I’m still looking for the perfect lined leather jacket, one of those big masculine pilot style ones…

Describe your style in three words… Casual, on-trend, statement!

Favourite fashion week city?
Paris, followed by New York.

What’s your go-to fashion week outfit? Midi-dress, cool boots, big coat.

Who should we be following on Instagram? Roxanne Assoulin - bracelet queen that brightens up every day. Food52 for best dinner inspiration and the usual Vogue, New York Times Fashion, etc.

Whose style do you most admire? I don't have just one style inspiration; I get inspired by so many things and people. Street style in fashion week, the runways, the editorials in the magazines following the runways, and so on.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given? Be yourself, there’s nothing more exciting! And, keep your head up when things don’t go well, and keep it down with success.

What’s your party trick? Tequila!

What are your plans for 2018? Grow my team, build out my brand, have another baby, and be around the people I love!
